Following Emperor Sheev Palpatine's proclamation of the New Order in 19 BBY, a new calendar was introduced with the day of the Galactic Empire's formation as its epoch. BFE stood for "Before the Formation of the Empire," and AFE for "After the Formation of the Empire."

Conversion

Though we use AFE, outside Star Wars references use BBY / ABY (Before / After the Battle of Yavin). Here is the conversion formula:

• 19 - BBY = AFE

Example: 19 - 14 BBY = 5 AFE
