IN-GAME DATE
September 21, 9 AFE (10 BBY)The city-state of Anek lies on the north edge of the South Caru sub-continent. It claims the whole region south of it, but does not appear to have the manpower to actually explore or patrol such a region.
Anek relies mostly on resources found in exploration of the southern plains and wastes, strange flora and fauna, and occasional rare elements and materials. They are secretive on where exactly such materials are obtained, but many rumors suggest ancient cave networks, strange natural formations and illicit activities.
Anek has a long, and at times bitter, rivalry with its close neighbor, Ekiam. While violence is rare between the two, Anek is still nursing a grudge from having lost possession of the wealthy city and access to the northern portions of their shared region.
The city-state is also known for a form of sand art. Involving the use of music, an artist tells a story using a sand table or cleared floor space, moving and drawing with the sand to evoke images and emotions. As such, it is not a form of art easy to export, but their sand tellers do command high prices for performing outside Anek.
